The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) develops the skills and knowledge learners need to become well trained managers and leaders who can innovate and respond to a changing environment. It enables managers and leaders to meet challenges and opportunities within the sector. Learners can choose from several pathways within adult services or children and young people’s services with optional units to allow the learning to be tailored to a range of roles. The objective is to support a role in the workplace.

The qualification is included in the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management – Level 5 (England).

Please note that the Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway of the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) has been replaced by a new qualification, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England). The qualification is not available with SFJ Awards.

While the Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway continues to be available, under The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the required care role qualification for children’s homes is the replacement Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England).

Progression:
Successful learners can progress to further qualifications within the social care sector or other parts of the sector, for example moving from adults’ advanced practice to adults’ residential management or move to the Children and Young People’s Workforce sector or the Health sector, completing additional sector and job-relevant units within the diploma. Learners may also use the qualification for entry to a degree programme in a related discipline or to progress to a job role in an adult or children and young people’s setting such as deputy manager, manager, care manager, care broker, day care manager or senior support worker.
