Meet the SFJ Awards team: Sarah Hattersley

Sarah Hattersley joined the SFJ Awards team as our Business Development Officer in November 2022. With previous experience in apprenticeship vacancies and customer journey mapping Sarah brought with her a wealth of knowledge and skills development in the education sector.

Sarah was keen to join SFJ Awards and bring her expertise to the team because:

“When I saw the opportunity to work for SFJ Awards, researched who they were and how they impacted learners’ lives, I wanted to be a part of making a difference. Especially as I am a big advocate of career pathways and how that can impact local communities. SFJ Awards provide that opportunity to 1000’s of learners every year, so being able to say we make a difference was a big driver.”

Having been here for just over a year now, Sarah has hit the ground running, from bringing in new centres including Save the Children and Minerva Elite Performance to setting up monthly drop-in sessions to support existing centres. Sarah’s approach is to put the customer at the heart of what she does at SFJ Awards, so that their journey is supported, easy and meets their individual needs and requirements.

As a key member of the team, we asked Sarah to describe her typical day at SFJ Awards. Sarah said:

“There is no one typical day, every day brings a different opportunity and challenge. With the ever-changing landscape in the public sector, one meeting could be about the developments of a new qualification to the next being about legislation changes or onboarding a new centre.”

Sarah and the business development team work closely with all our SFJ Awards centres, supporting every step of their journey from initial enquiry and onboarding through to product development and delivery:

“What I enjoy most is the difference and the impact not just myself but the entire team at SFJ Awards makes every day to not only a learner’s life but those they service and protect.”

In the coming months, Sarah is looking forward to:

“Seeing who I will meet next, and what conversations that leads to. Whether that be through account managing, an onboarding enquiry or supporting with a business case for a new development through employer engagement.”

We’re looking forward to seeing how Sarah continues to support and develop our client relationships.
