Counter Terrorism – Competent Person in the Workplace Certificate

We’re working in partnership with the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to develop a Level 3, Ofqual-regulated qualification. This qualification will be suitable for businesses looking for NaCTSO-endorsed, counter-terrorism specific protective security and preparedness training.

This qualification has the working title of the Competent Person in the Workplace (CPiW). Work is now starting on the finalisation of the NaCTSO-designed and SFJ Awards collaborated content to meet Ofqual requirements.

The CPIW qualification is designed to help organisations design and develop suitable counter terrorism protective security and preparedness plans and mitigations. The qualification will be open to any person or organisation operating in any sphere.

As plans develop, further information will be published by ProtectUK.

Why SFJ Awards?

NaCTSO have chosen to work with SFJ Awards because of our extensive experience collaborating with policing, law enforcement, and security practitioners and specialisation in qualification development, administration, and delivery processes.

Community engagement

A core part of our work will be centred around community engagement and ensuring that the launch of the new qualification is developed in line with the needs of organisations across the UK.

We will be bringing visibility of the new qualification and the benefits of professional development for security professionals throughout 2025. Sign up to receive updates to stay up-to-date with news and insights.

When will the qualification be available?

The qualification is in development and is due to open to learners by early 2026. Work is ongoing and we will be reaching out to sector experts to form working groups in the coming months.
