Consultation now open for Road Traffic Collision Instruction qualification

The role of a Road Traffic Collision Instructor (RTCI) within the Fire sector requires ongoing development to remain aligned with evolving legislation, industry standards, and best practices. In response to these changes, SFJ Awards is reviewing the existing qualification to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the sector and reflects the latest advancements in road traffic collision management.

A key aspect of this review is the integration of current practices, including updates to unit content, vehicle advancements, and legislative requirements. Additionally, the introduction of a Revalidation Qualification will support instructors in maintaining their competence and ensuring they stay current in their role. This will help standardise ongoing professional development and reinforce the importance of continuous learning.

By incorporating sector feedback and addressing emerging challenges, this review aims to enhance the relevance, safety, and effectiveness of RTC instruction, ensuring instructors are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality training in a dynamic operational environment.

The consultation is open from Monday 3 February to Monday 3 March.
