SFJ Awards now approved to deliver End-Point Assessment for the Level 4 Protective Security Adviser standard

We’re proud to announce that we have been officially approved to deliver End-Point Assessment (EPA) for the new Level 4 Protective Security Adviser apprenticeship standard.

This approval marks a key milestone for us, and for the protective security sector more broadly, as the profession evolves to meet increasingly complex threats and challenges.

As an Ofqual-regulated End-Point Assessment organisation (EPAO), we are committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and fairness. Our approval to deliver EPAs for this newly launched standard means training providers and employers now have access to a trusted, sector-specialist partner to help apprentices complete their journey with confidence.

What is a Protective Security Adviser?

The Protective Security Adviser (PSA) plays a vital role in safeguarding people, assets, and infrastructure from threats including terrorism, espionage and organised crime. PSAs advise on protective security policies and risk mitigation strategies, often in complex or sensitive environments.

This level 4 standard reflects the real-world demands of the role and is designed to ensure apprentices develop the critical skills, behaviours and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality security advice in a professional and ethical way.

It builds on (and is aligned with) the recent launch of the Level 4 Certificate for Protective Security Advisers, produced in collaboration with the Home Office, and endorsed by all three National Technical Authorities (National Protective Security Authority [NPSA], UK Authority for Counter Eavesdropping [NACE] and National Cyber Security Centre [NCSC]) – the first security sector qualification ever to do so.

We are currently onboarding several training centres who will deliver this qualification going forward, and adding the apprenticeship route means there are more options than ever to professionalise this area of the security workforce.
