This qualification has been developed by SFJ Awards in collaboration with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

The UK Fire and Rescue Services (FRS) provides various educational sessions and interventions for children and young people. It is recognised by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) that the FRS staff and volunteers delivering this important work should have the ability to access training which will enable them to carry out these activities with the appropriate level of skill and knowledge.

This qualification provides an excellent opportunity for anyone working within the FRS with children and young people to gain recognition for the fantastic and beneficial work that they do, providing a professional pathway for development and progression. The qualification is available to any staff or volunteers who work with children and young people as part of their role within the UK Fire and Rescue Services (FRS).

This qualification is designed for staff and volunteers who work at differing levels with children and young people and includes areas such as child development, youth work, understanding challenging behaviour, ACES and trauma, communication and neurodiversity.

What are the pre-entry requirements for the Level 2 Award in Fire & Rescue Service – Introduction to Working with Children and Young People?

There are no pre-entry requirements for this qualification. However, centres must ensure that learners are able to complete this qualification, for example, through completing a skills scan to ensure they can work at the appropriate level.
