November Newsletter: Candace’s Corner

It is an exciting and busy time for everyone here at SFJ Awards. With our November newsletter released recently, we wanted to share our Managing Director Candace Miller’s thoughts on our latest news and events.

I cannot believe it is November already! This year seems to be flying past, and there is so much going on here at SFJ Awards – you can read about some recent highlights in this newsletter.

Supporting prospective learners and centres to connect is something we have been wanting to do for some time, so I am delighted that our new online Centre Directory is now live. If you are an approved centre and haven’t yet uploaded your details, you can find a link to the relevant form embedded in the newsletter.

Our qualifications development team have been hard at work and the newsletter gives you details of one of the latest awards we offer, along with a snapshot of a key member of that team. Here at SFJ Awards, we get enormous satisfaction from doing the best we can for learners, training providers and employers but it is always great when others recognise our work. So please forgive me if I brag a little and tell you that we are really excited at having been shortlisted by the Federation of Awarding Bodies for the ‘EPAO of the Year’ category, based on the support our EPA team have given to apprentices and training providers over the past 18 months. The results will be announced at the Federation conference later this week. Whether we get the crown or not, given that this was the first time that SFJ Awards has ever entered for an award, being shortlisted makes us feel like winners already.

I will also be speaking at the FAB Conference this year, hosting a session on such an important issue as increasing equality, diversity and inclusion within the skills and FE sector, as well as talking about skills and career development in the awarding sector. Our own events programme during 2021 was very well received and in anticipation of high demand going forward, the newsletter gives you early notice of an upcoming webinar, as well as a link to one now available to view on demand.

I do hope you enjoy reading all about our latest updates in the November newsletter and look forward to bringing you more news in the new year.
