Rachel Honeyball is our End-Point Assessment Quality Assurance Manager. She has been in the team since November 2020 having previously worked for a variety of training providers in a few different roles, such as Work Based Team Leader, Internal Quality Assurer and Post-16 Teacher. The common thread between Rachel’s previous roles was that they all had an emphasis on driving quality delivery for apprentices and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
Coming to SFJ Awards, Rachel was able to bring forth current practice from a training provider perspective and information on what customers would require from us as an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO).
Having been with SFJ Awards for almost 4 years, Rachel describes her typical day at work:
“A phrase that I’m often heard saying is – ‘Every day is a learning day’. No two days are the same and I often sit back at the end of the day and reflect on how many of the 11 apprenticeship standards we are approved to deliver I have spoken about. A day in my life could be internal or external meetings, phone calls, attending EPA venues, solving issues, giving results and feedback to customers, planning with Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs) or assessors, personal CPD, working within the full SFJ Awards team… the list goes on!”
During her time with SFJ Awards, Rachel has progressed her career, moving from an EPA Co-ordinator when she began, to her role today where she manages her own team:
“When I started with SFJ Awards I began as an EPA Co-ordinator and through managerial support I have been lucky enough to achieve promotion to the role I’m in now and actually manage my own team on a daily basis.”
We asked Rachel what she enjoys the most about working at SFJ Awards:
“I really enjoy engaging with public sector customers and experts to enable apprentices to achieve their apprentice standard.
“On a personal level, it’s fantastic to work for an organisation who truly supports their staff through personal development and who listen to the experience and knowledge of individuals to help shape our customer offering.”
The life of an EPAO is never quiet. Rachel has lots of exciting projects to look forward to in the coming months:
“EPA is a fast paced and forward moving sector. Over the next six months, I’m looking forward to commencing delivery on three new apprenticeship standards, each of which involves recruiting and developing sector experts to become freelance independent assessors for SFJ Awards.”
