We are delighted to announce that our Managing Director, Candace Miller, has been co-opted as a non-executive director to the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) Board, until the FAB Annual General Meeting in December.
As a platinum partner and long-standing supporter of the Federation we have always valued our close working relationship. “FAB does an outstanding job on behalf of its members whose work is so critical to trust within the qualifications and awarding sector. It is, therefore, a great honour to have been co-opted onto the Board,” said Candace.
The appointment comes at a time when further education is finally at the centre of national reform, and to have the opportunity to help lead the organisation’s strategy on building a more prosperous, productive, and inclusive economy in the future, at Board level, is exciting.
“We are at time of real change in the skills ecosystem,” said Candace. “With the new ‘Skills Bill’ making its way through parliament, and new working and learning patterns getting established as we learn to live with the impact of the pandemic, I look forward to playing an active role in the Federation’s forward journey. In particular, regarding one facet of their work that is very close to my heart – the ongoing development of the professional assessment and awarding workforce within member organisations.”
The Federation’s Chief Executive, Tom Bewick, echoed Candace’s sentiment as he welcomed her appointment, saying: “we’re absolutely delighted that Candace has joined the board as a non-executive director. FAB, the FE sector and the awarding industry are subject to massive change at the moment. The pandemic adds a further dynamic, as we look to emerge from the crisis with a better skilled workforce and stronger economy. Candace will also be chairing our Professional Development and Equalities Working Group, ensuring that we secure a vibrant, fairer access and more diverse industry in future.”
