The British Firefighter Challenge is an annual sporting event that raises funds for the Firefighters Charity.
The Challenge sees firefighters from around the world descend on Hull city centre to go head-to-head and compete across 8 physical challenges over the course of two days.
Wearing breathing apparatus and full PPE the challenges simulate real-life emergency situations, including the container carry and casualty rescue.
Now in its sixth year, SFJ Awards was one of the sponsors of the event, which took place over the weekend of 30/31 July.
Saturday’s programme saw firefighters aged between 18 and 44-years-old tackling the challenges, males over 45 and females taking on each challenge on the Sunday.
In total around 250 firefighters took part, and the full list of winners can be found here.
Kathryn Broadbent, Head of Customer and Commercial Engagement at SFJ Awards attended the event and comments:
“The British Firefighter Challenge is a fantastic showcase of the sheer hard work and determination that our firefighters put in each and every day to keep us all safe.
“The event was a tremendous success and the participants have done themselves well and are truly proud. We cannot wait for next year’s event!”
