Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness qualification

Formerly Competent Person in the Workplace

National Counter Terrorism Security Office logo

We have worked in partnership with the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to design this Ofqual-regulated qualification. The qualification is aimed at those with responsibility for venues, sites and organisations and those who want a better understanding of counter-terrorism (CT) in preparation for the implementation of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (also referred to as Martyn’s Law).

This is the only qualification endorsed by Counter-Terrorism Policing (CTP) and NaCTSO. Approved centres will also have access to a comprehensive suite of teaching and learning resources developed by NaCTSO and SFJ Awards including eLearning, lesson plans, sample assessments and a course manual – everything that is needed to deliver the qualification.

The qualification will be officially launched on 10 March 2026 at the Security and Policing Event but SFJ Awards is now taking applications from prospective centres.

Why SFJ Awards?

NaCTSO have chosen to work with SFJ Awards because of our extensive experience collaborating with policing, law enforcement, and security practitioners and specialisation in qualification development, administration, and delivery processes.

Community engagement

A key part of our development process has been to gather feedback about the qualification. During the next phase of the qualification roll out, we’re keen to engage with stakeholders to ensure the qualification can create real impact in the sector.
