Our Health Heroes are an annual awards scheme run by our sister organisation Skills for Health. SFJ Awards have proudly sponsored the Apprentice of the Year category at these awards for the past few years. As a leading End-Point Assessment organisation, specialising in developing and conducting apprenticeship assessments for public sector careers, we’re immensely proud to be sponsoring this category.
At the ceremony, which took place on Thursday 22 May in London, we found out that Olivia Parsons, former apprentice now Clinic Manager at Beacon House, won the Gold Apprentice of the Year award.
Olivia was nominated for her strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and genuine enthusiasm for learning. Olivia also had to overcome personal demands alongside the challenge of completing her apprenticeship, impressing her colleagues who described her as “truly remarkable”.
Tim Muttock, Business Administration Apprentice at Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, was crowned Silver Apprentice of the Year. Described as persistent and resilient, Tim undertook a vast and impactful project related to the digitisation and archiving of employee records. His work on this project brought huge quality improvements and efficiencies for his organisation.
The Bronze Apprentice of the Year award went to Nasser Mohammed, Service Desk Supervisor at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Nasser brought exceptional dedication, innovation and leadership throughout his Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship.
The achievements of these three apprentices highlights not only the huge contributions apprentices can make to the workplace, but also the transformative power of apprenticeships themselves. Apprenticeships are a crucial way for key public sectors (such as healthcare) to develop and maintain a skilled, experienced, and resilient workforce ready to tackle future challenges.
Kit Salt, Head of Assessments at SFJ Awards, attended the awards and says:
“Our Health Heroes is a vital event that celebrates the outstanding achievements of those on the frontlines of our health sector. I was honoured to attend and to present the Apprentice of the Year award. All three finalists in this category were truly deserving, each demonstrating remarkable dedication, innovation, and passion in their roles. It was inspiring to see their hard work recognised by their colleagues, and to see them receive these well-earned awards.”
Keeley Brookes from SFJ Awards, who also attended this year’s ceremony, adds:
“It was a great honour to be selected by SFJ Awards to attend this year’s Our Health Heroes Awards ceremony. All the finalists were very deserving of being there and the work they’ve done, and continue to do, both in front and behind the scenes is a real testament to our health care system. Being surrounded by remarkable professionals and community leaders, I had the opportunity to listen to the stories of each finalist, all of whom go above and beyond to improve lives. It was a heart-warming and powerful day in recognising and thanking those that again go above and beyond.”
