SFJ Awards are committed to ensuring the highest quality standards are held by our accredited centres across security. As part of our ongoing quality assurance activities, and in collaboration with the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and other awarding organisations (AOs), we have been helping to remove training malpractice in the private security sector.
The recent spotlight from SIA showed that in the last three months they have:
- Conducted visits to training providers across the UK – 12 of which were a result of reports of malpractice.
- Worked with AOs to withdraw approval for delivering license-linked qualifications from five centres.
- Issued 82 action points for improvement to training centres.
- Agreed new procedures with AOs to prevent training providers from switching awarding body after they were sanctioned or had their approval status revoked because of malpractice or mismanagement.
- Delivered training to investigators so they have the resources to assist with report of malpractice.
These actions across the sector shows the commitment that awarding organisations and the SIA have in ensuring that those who hold SIA licenses receive the correct training and qualifications.
