Review of assessor, quality assurance, education and training qualifications

We are working with the Federation of Awarding Bodies, the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) and other Awarding Organisations on the review of the assessor, quality assurance and education and training qualifications. This review will also impact on learning and development qualifications as there are some shared units. The review is in progress but a date for the introduction of the revised qualifications has still to be confirmed.

We will keep centres informed of the review’s progress but, in the meantime, we want to confirm that no end dates have been planned for our assessor, quality assurance, education and training, and learning and development qualifications, so they continue to be available as usual.

We will notify centres well in advance of any changes to allow time for planning and transition to the revised qualifications.

Further to our published External Quality Assurance COVID-19 FAQs, the ETF has clarified that remote observations of micro teaching can be used as an assessment method for the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

In line with our COVID-19 guidance, this change to the assessment should be checked internally by the qualification Lead IQA, to ensure the assessment will still be robust, reliable and achieve the relevant Assessment Criteria.  If the Lead IQA is unsure, they can seek advice from their EQA. This guidance applies to registrations prior to 10 March 2020, to allow learners to complete courses, and does not apply to any new candidates registered after this date.

If you have any queries on the review, or on COVID-19 guidance, please contact us today.
