New Level 3 Award in Pre-Hospital Immediate Casualty Care (PICC) launched

SFJ Awards has launched a new qualification designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to provide safe and effective immediate care in first-response environments.

The award is designed for individuals working, or preparing to work, in roles where they may need to respond to a traumatic or medical emergency before the arrival of a qualified clinician.

This includes people working in first-response environments such as event medical teams, security roles, community responders and emergency services.

Learners will develop knowledge and practical skills across key areas including:

  • scene safety
  • casualty assessment
  • basic life support
  • the initial management of a range of traumatic and medical emergencies.

It also supports learners to understand the importance of working within an appropriate clinically governed framework and alongside both registered and non-registered healthcare professionals.

The qualification is based on the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) competencies at Level D.

Interested in delivering the qualification?

For training providers, the qualification provides an opportunity to add pre-hospital immediate casualty care to their existing portfolios.
