There have always been a number of different ways to join the police force. However, this year there are several major changes occurring to the recruitment process and we want to ensure that you are as well informed as possible about how entry is changing for police constables in 2020.
As you may already be aware, the College of Policing have announced that the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing (CKP) qualification has ceased to be one of the pathways into the Police Service at Police Constable Level after December 31st 2019.
However, we want to reiterate that whilst the CKP may no longer be a pathway in itself, it will continue to represent a level 3 qualification, therefore meeting the requirement for learners to have already achieved a level 3 qualification when applying for the new Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) entry route. Please see the College of Policing website for more information.
We are pleased to confirm that our CKP qualification is still available to our centres to continue to offer but must note that effective from 1st January 2020, centres will be required to use their own internally devised assessments.
We have been advised that any centres wishing to continue using the College of Policing assessment materials moving forward must enquire directly to the College of Policing to seek approval to do so.
If you are interested in this qualification, or require any more information, guidance or support on any of our qualifications, please contact our team on 0114 284 1970 or info@sfjawards.com
