Update: Supporting professional recognition in policing through an accredited Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP)

The Police Leadership Commission report, published earlier this month, has highlighted the increasing importance of the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) as a key route into policing and the need for officers to have access to recognised accreditation for the learning and development they complete.

SFJ Awards has been supporting this area through its Level 5 Diploma in Professional Policing Practice, developed in close collaboration with police forces across the UK and launched in October 2024. The qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a Police Constable and is aligned to the College of Policing’s PCEP curriculum.

We welcome the focus on professional recognition and accredited learning within the Commission’s recommendations. SFJ Awards will continue to work with forces and partners to understand the implications of these developments and how our qualifications can support future policing education needs.
