About the Qualification
The qualification is relevant to learners who are developing their knowledge and skills in trauma care in the context of being the first person on the scene. The first person on scene provides immediate life support to a patient prior to the arrival of qualified paramedics. The qualification provides an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed for the role and does not lead to occupational competence.
SFJ Awards Level 3 Award for Providing Trauma Care as the First Person on Scene
The qualification covers:
- anatomy and physiology
- incident scene management
- management of emergency trauma
- airway management and oxygen therapy
- basic adult life support
- automated external defibrillation
There are no pre-entry requirements for enrolling to complete this qualification.
Replacement of Qualification
This qualification has been withdrawn and therefore no further learners can be registered. All certifications of learners already registered on the qualification must be complete by 31 December 2018.
