International Training

During May SFJ Awards had the opportunity to work with the Hong Kong Correctional Service to deliver a bespoke Train the trainer course for the International Award in the Safe Use of Force.

The training comprised of a short-tailored core learning module offering a standardised approach whilst adhering to their organisational strategy, departmental policies and procedures.

The main outcome of the training was that it:

  • Offered practical and physical “good practice” training sessions to ensure a consistent approach
  • Enabled leaders to communicate effectively
  • Allowed leaders to manage typical situations, identifying signs and pre-conditions to conflict and the best courses of action to take
  • Following the training, Steve Batty said:

SFJ Awards specialise in the justice and community safety sectors both, in the UK and overseas.

New patterns of unlawful and criminal activity are increasingly presenting challenges to law enforcement organisations. However, it’s not only about applying the right policies and procedures, consideration must be given to staff.  Upskilling employees encourages staff morale, increases workforce retention and develops a safer working environment.

The Hong Kong Correctional Services Department has provided SFJ Awards with excellent feedback and highlights the benefits of collaborative working across both the UK and with International agencies.

In the coming year SFJ Awards are looking to further develop its relationship with the Hong Kong Correctional Service increasing our presence overseas.
