SFJ Awards has worked in partnership with the fire and rescue sector to develop a new qualification to help workers who arrive first on the scene.
The organisation has developed the Level 3 Certificate in Providing Trauma Care as the First Person on Scene qualification with the Fire Services College and a number of individual Fire and Rescue Services. However the qualification could be used across all blue light services.
The qualification, which is aimed at people who provide immediate life support to a patient prior to the arrival of the ambulance services, covers:
- anatomy and physiology
- incident scene management
- management of emergency trauma
- airway management and oxygen therapy
- basic adult life support; and
- automated external defibrillation.
